The International Micro Air Vehicle Conference and Competition (IMAV) is an annual event that promotes key technologies for the development of micro air vehicles. Since its inception, IMAV has offered a pioneering format where indoor and outdoor competitions are held in parallel with a two-day conference. Highly recognized members of the community are invited to give speeches, while academics are invited to submit research papers and technical documents. After a peer review process, accepted papers are presented at the conference.
The 2026 edition of the IMAV is set to take place in Strasbourg, France. The conference will be hosted by INSA Strasbourg (engineering and architecture school) from September 24 to 25, 2026.
We are inviting authors to submit papers for presentation at the conference.
Due to many requests, the deadline for paper submissions has been postponed:
Paper submission deadline : May 15, 2026June 15, 2026 (firm deadline)
Notification of acceptance : June 12, 2026July 1, 2026
Final paper submission deadline : July 3, 2026July 15, 2026
Submission Guidelines
Authors are encouraged to present research related to Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs), from fundamental knowledge in disciplinary topics to cross-disciplinary technological innovation and the use of MAVs in other research fields. We welcome contributions to all aspects of MAVs, including, but not limited to:
Sensing and perception for MAVs
Multi-MAV systems and swarm intelligence
Low Reynolds number aerodynamics
Design of novel MAV types (hybrids, propulsion, silent drones)
MAVs that interact robustly with their environment
New control methods
Reconfiguration of MAVs in unpredicted events
Autonomous navigation in GPS-denied environments
Integration of MAVs in airspace (sense-and-avoid, UTM, …)
Application of MAVs in industry, agriculture, environmental monitoring, conservation, search and rescue operations
Scientific and technical sessions will be organized. Technical or scientific papers will be submitted as full papers, which should be at least 6 pages long. 2 extra pages are allowed, for a maximum of 8 pages.
All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by a scientific committee according to a high-quality and fast referee process. If accepted, one of the authors is expected to present the paper for a 20-minute slot during the conference.
Best Paper Award
On the basis of the reviews of the program committee members, a number of papers will be nominated for the best paper award. After the presentation of the nominated papers, a special committee will select the best papers for IMAV 2026, which will be awarded at the end of the conference.
